Instagram is implementing a new change to user bios: you can now use hashtags and mention users in your bio. Anytime you mention another account or hashtag in your profile, itβ ll show an link that other users can tap. Before this change, it was just regular text and not a link. But Instagram now changed that.
And if you have a favorite hashtag, you can also put that in your bio, and it will link out to recently uploaded photos that have the same hashtag in their description or comments. Instagram added the ability to follow hashtags in your main feed β right alongside posts from the people you follow β back in December.
To add a hashtag or profile link in your bio, just tap on Edit Profile and go to the bio section. When you type a # or @, you will see a list of recommended hashtags and accounts in the typeahead. Once you select the hashtags and accounts you want, they will automatically be linked in your bio..
But, is this change really usefull for standard users ? We think it will become more handy for big profiles, as a new tool to sell promotion because now they can promote other profiles also mentioning them in their bios.
